FOUNDATION

THE DAY AFTER

We aim to promote the building of sustainable peace through the active participation of women in processes of reconciliation, recovery, and the strengthening of social cohesion at both national and international levels.

Objectives and Areas of Activity

The “Day After” Foundation operates on the principles of transparency, respect for human rights, and social responsibility. In its work, the “Day After” Foundation pursues the following objectives:

To unite the Ukrainian women’s movement

as part of Ukrainian civil society, engaging in resistance against the aggressor during the full-scale war and preparing for the construction of a resilient and just peace after Ukraine’s victory.

To raise awareness within Ukrainian society

about the role of women in decision-making processes during the full-scale war and in post-conflict resolution.

To expand the network of women

who are ready to invest their time, knowledge, and efforts in building a resilient and just peace in Ukraine.

The key areas of work of the “Day After” Foundation include national and international workshops for women leaders, study visits and experience exchange with women’s movements and peacebuilding practices from countries that have experienced wars and conflicts, as well as advocacy work at both the national and international levels.

Mission and values

The mission of the “Day After” Foundation is to support the development of democracy, promote the principles of justice, and ensure equal rights and opportunities to achieve a resilient and just peace in Ukraine and worldwide.

We are convinced that it is never too early to prepare for building a sustainable and just peace. Deep reflection on the experience of war, understanding ourselves and our place in post-war reconstruction, as well as the learned experience of other countries that have gone through conflicts and great upheavals, are part of the plan to prepare the Ukrainian women's movement for our first day after the war and the successful reconstruction of Ukraine.

Women’s participation in decision-making processes – a prerequisite for sustainable peace

Founding History

The Day After Foundation was established in Kyiv during the war that Russia launched against Ukraine in 2014 and escalated to a full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022.

Founding History

The Day After Foundation was established in 2024 on the initiative of three co-founders – Iryna Drobovych, Alina Myakenko and Anna Nikolaenko. The creation of the Foundation was the result of many years of activity of the community of human rights defenders in support of Ukrainian women's leadership, as well as the result of their internships and training in the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship, Lane Kirkland Fellowship and Miami University Business Management Program.
